Working out and Work

Last week was my first week at the Salvation Army. It's pretty different than anything else I have done. The days seem to fly by, which is really nice.

There is a gym for $18 a month about 2 minutes from work, so I joined that last wednesday. On Thursday I started working out, leading off with the Hot Curves Challenge from Bodyrock.tv. I liked that one a lot. It was quick and relatively painless, which was nice since I had to catch the bus from downtown to the mall where I waited for Rick to take me home. He gets off 2 hours after I do, so that was quite a wait. The problem for me is that I have to wait in a mall, which induces shopping and that is really not very fun for me. Correction: that's not fun for our bank account.

On Friday I did the Hot Mess Workout. That was very challenging for me. I only made it to Round Four and tacked on the V-Crunches from Round Five without repeating the other rounds. I felt bad, but I just couldn't keep it up. I then went and did some weight training. I felt so confused though, so I didn't linger too long. I was dismayed to learn that I could only squat about 40lbs and bench the bar. I was able to curl and incline press about 40 straight off the bat, so that weakened me a bit. This is in comparison to my high school score of 70lbs for bench and 140 for squats and I weighed 107lbs. A sad day, Friday.

I am hoping to finish the bodyrock.tv workouts without giving up this week. That will be my challenge.

I got a gym bag, which I was pretty psyched about! It has a little strappy thing underneath to attach your yoga mat. I found some shower gel and lotion to stick into my gym bag too, since there are showers at the gym. Can you tell that I am excited about all this? ;)

I am going to visit the gym every day after work. Hopefully in a few months I won't be embarrassed once bikini season comes around. I'll keep my workouts posted and how well I do. :)

I am also trying to develop some daily habits:

  • Putting all my stuff away when I get home
  • Putting all of the laundry in their proper place
    • clean clothes in the closet
    • dirty clothes in the hamper
  • Washing our dishes every night
  • Put things away when I am done with them
  • Clean the cat box every day
  • Brush the cats every day
It is really hard to live in such a small space with another person and two cats. Cleaning up after ourselves seems to be the key to our sanity. It's also nice that we now have a mini fridge for food. :)

I also need to improve my food habits again. After I am done with this blog I am going to go make my lunch and make sure I get my coffee ready for tomorrow.

Later!
